Dual Voltage Power Supply Circuit
It is interesting that most IC circuits that are drawn only show the chip with the + and - hookup but don't indicate that it requires a dual power supply. Most IC Chips require a Dual Voltage Power Supply. It can be anywhere from 6 volts or higher. Some chips only require a single supply and some chips can be used with both. Always check the specifications on the particular chip to see the battery requirements.
The above image shows how to put a dual voltage power supply circuit together. The example shows the hookup for a 9 volt supply. Use the same configuration for other voltages.
